Pope’s Domain Name
According to Wired News The Jacksonville, Florida-based writer purchased the rights to BenedictXVI.com on April 1 — He bought it more than two-and-a-half weeks before Cardinal Ratzinger announced that he would assume the papacy under that name.
In an interview shortly after Ratzinger’s announcement Tuesday, Cadenhead said the purchase of the domain name was more of an educated guess than divine, guidance.
I have checked the website BenedictXVI.com today and on the main page i found that Rogers registered this domain - along with several others - to prevent a pornographer or online casino from acquiring this domain name the minute the new Pope was named, and then using it in ways that would embarrass both the new Pope and the Catholic church.
