Is less prone to malicious attacks

    Don’t kid yourself.
Its only because its on a few computers & they aren’t just worth attacking/hacking. While Windows runs on more than 90% computers & thus is more than worth attacking/hacking. If you know, there was an article sometime back in Chip or PCQuest, I don’t remember exactly, in which they listed the bugs & patches released for WindowsXP, Mac OS-X, SuSe Linux Professional 9.1 & it turned out that Windows had the least of the bugs that were really critical & SuSe had them the most. Also, it said that Microsoft was the quickest & most effective in releasing patches that work & SuSe was the slowest. And perhaps you should know that Apple isn’t great at patching security holes in their OS either. The reason I see for it is that amongst these three, only Microsoft can claim to have built their OS themselves, so they know the ins & outs of Windows. Apple on the other hand just took FreeBSD & glued their pretty interface on it & sell it as their Mac Os-X while we all know where all Linux distros came from, be it RedHat or Mandrake or SuSe.

As a matter of fact, there was quite a problem with OS-X last year with Apple not being able to patch a critical security hole in Safari which allowed a hacker to remotely upload/execute any file on your safe Mac, & that too without you noticing anything.

I blogged about that on my blog which you can read on at:-

I far prefer a Mac. Don’t have one though. I think security holes will always be there. Its the user who has to take care and precautions while surfing the net.

That’s why you have a Mac Theme on your WinXP. Yes, a Mac is better for a graphic designer, but not for a programmer. I mean PC programmer. If you code for Macs then well, you must have a Mac.

Precisely, & that should be the attitude. Nothing is perfect & fool-proof. Its behaving like a 5 year old kid when we point at each other, “your windows stinks, it has got so many bugs” & then the other one replies, “smarty, bugs in my windows can be killed, but you have holes!!!!”
