What to Expect in Firefox 1.1?

Here are a few end-user features from Deer Park Alpha 1 (the first alpha version of Firefox 1.1), that will almost certainly be carried into the next version of your favorite browser - Mozilla Firefox 1.1

  1. The “Sanitize” feature provides an easy way to quickly remove browsing history, cookies, cache, saved form information, and other personal data. Consider it an Internet activity trace remover. This is very welcome on my part. :applause:
  2. Fast back (and forward) - This very experimental feature allows much faster session history navigation similar to opera.. In Deer Park Alpha 1, the feature is off by default but can be enabled for testing purposes. To do so, in the address bar, type about:config and press enter. Then change the browser.sessionhistory.max_viewers preference to a nonzero number.
  3. You can use image thumbnails as tab icons.
  4. The file download manager and cookie managers are now searchable.
  5. The new version will allow you to report broken websites.

Both Deer Park Alpha 1.1 and the final release of Firefox 1.1 are scheduled to come out later this month.

Well, that “Sanitize” feature seems a bit overkill, does it take long to go in the
    Tools > Options > Privacy
and click the “Clear All” button which clears all your History, Cache, Cookies, Form Info(including any saved passwords) etc.?

The Back-Forward improvement will be good but I think that they should also put in a Cookie Browser, so you can see all cookies stored, just like in Opera.

They’re basically replicating several of opera’s features. In my book, opera is still a step ahead, but extrensions is what gives firefox the edge.

Well, I think that they should consider more on removing the bugs from FireFox than adding more features which may & will bring more bugs, increasing the already populated bugs list.

Yeah, the last thing they would want for firefox to get really buggy, since stablility and security is primarily what the browser is “marketed” on.
