More about the iPod 5G

After my initial disapointment at Apple’s new “Video” iPod, I’ve found out more about the new iPod which makes me think that at least it’s an improvement over the 4th Generation iPod. The new pricing makes the iPod just $50 more expensive than the 4 GB Nano, which makes the iPod accessible to many more people.
iLounge came up with a very detailed first look at the new iPod today, which points out the many small improvements in the new iPod. Engadget have an interesting article pointing out what Apple may have in store, and this iPod is just the beginning. And of course, what excited us most about the 5th Generation iPod is video, and The Unofficial Apple Weblog has brought out a detailed article about the videos that you can buy from the iTunes Music Store.
Some of the new features include:
- The screen size is no 2.5″ compared to the earlier 2″
- The iPod is now available in black and white
- There are two models, 30 GB ($299), and 60 GB ($399). The 60 GB iPod provides more battery life than the 30 GB model, although I cannot remember how much exactly.
- The iPod uses the same plastic as the Nano, which will probably make it scratch prone. Apple has brought back the protective sleeve that was omitted for the 4th Generation.
Moral of the story? Buy a white one!! ![]()
