The End of GameCube??

Is GameCube nearing the end of its life? Well, Nintendo is thinking like that as the sales & profits from the japanese Gaming Console are dipping in the icy waters!! As per this story on c|net, Nintendo is expected to declare a decline for the full year in the GameCube & software sales. And things certainly don’t look good for them either as Microsoft came out firing its guns on full blast with Xbox 360, the first release of the gen-next gaming consoles, & it’ll be followed by Sony’s Playstation 3 in mid-2006, making Nintendo’s next GameCube, code named Revolution, to be the last one out!! Nintendo’s profits have come down quite heavily(a decline of about 50%) compared to last year & the sales have taken a nose dive!! Its stock closed at 0.85% down at 12890 yen at the Osaka Stock Exchange!!

Gamers remember Nintendo for their hits like Mario, Donkey Kong & Pokemon!! I still remember my days when I was a kid & used to go to the video-game parlour near my house on my days off to play a game of Mario!! Too bad that Nintendo hasn’t kept up, but then, it has only two major competitors in Sony & Microsoft & mean though both of them are, its not an easy ride for them as well, this is how the competition in market is & the consumer is the winner(in a way)!! :tup:
