Cell Phone PC!!
Come January 2006 and DualCor Technologies will unveil its 6.5 inches long, 3.3 inches wide & 1.2 inches thick cPC which is a cross between a WinXP PC and a smart phone running Windows Mobile 5.0, reported c|net.

The cPC having a 5 inch diagonal screen will be aimed at sales representatives and executives who travel extensively, as per DualCor CEO Steven Hanley. Taking a further look at the technical specifications will tell you that it’ll be running the Tablet PC edition of WindowsXP and Windows Mobile 5.0 with a Zero Lag between the two of them. The device will be both a PC and a smart phone powered by a 1.5GHz C7-M processor(from Via) with a shared touch screen, 40GB shared hard drive, 1GB DDR2 RAM and 1GB NAND Flash Memory with features like Instant On, Always On & Always Connected having a battery life of 3-4 hours in full computer mode and 8-12 hours in smart phone mode. It’ll also have 3 USB2.0 Ports, a Mini VGA Port(for large monitors and projectors), stereo & telephone headsets.
The main aspect of this device will be ofcourse its battery life along with its processing performance. Other similar gadgets in the market consume the battery greedily whether you are using any PC applications or using them as a phone. But the putting together two operating systems will extend the battery life in cPC. Due to the memory footprint & other technologies, a user will be able to receive & access emails in the smart phone mode and open MS Office applications in a limited access while keeping the PC and WinXP asleep, thus not requiring any heavy battery usage, as whenever an application is opened, the user is presented a choice to open it in PC or Smart Phone mode, a process which can also be automated.
But all this shiny stuff will come at a price. The device which is expected to be in market by March 2006, will cost around $1500(with a discount on bulk purchases), more than a lot of notebooks with similar or more power, and not to mention that the prices of notebooks are falling down steadily.
All said and done, since there are a lot of smart phones and handhelds like Black Berry are available for much lower price, people are sure gonna be a bit apprehensive about this gadget!!

That’s close to my dream machine. Not in terms of price though.
Definitely, but it will quite possibly tempt people considering an O2 here, assuming that the price doesn’t increase for it here, which it certainly will!!
Awesome gadget nonetheless.
That I agree. If it were in the sub $500 segment, I’d have definitely considered buying it!!
But still, $149 laptop to look forward to!!
