OneIndia - Telecom Unified!!
In an effort to simplify communications within India, the government is working to wards OneIndia - an approach that will mean unified telecom rates throughout the country, elimination of long distance calling (STD), roaming within India, and there will be no such thing as the telecom circles we have today! 
If rumours are to be believed, this may happen as early as January 26th next year, but I am yet to confirm that, since there is hardly any news of this event in the online media, but there has more speculation in the print media, so dig into your archives. 
If this does come true, things will be much cheaper, especially for domestic travellers. Although I don’t travel much, what it’ll do for me is remove the tensions of roaming charges, rental, etc. because as a user on a budget, I have experienced the ugly side of our telecom behemoths where they rid you of your entire fortune if you take your phone out of your circle.
The only news on this I have managed to come across on the Internet is an article from the BSNL Knowledge Base.
