Hardest Job in Silicon Valley??

What’s the hardest job in Silicon Valley? Apparently that is of Oracle’s senior VP of applications, John Wookey(interesting surname, reminds me of the Wookies in Star Wars), who has to hold the fort together as Oracle has been on a buying spree of late, having spent $19 billion over last two years to acquire 14 of its business rivals, including the prized possessions of PeopleSoft Inc. which cost $10 billion and Siebel Systems Inc. coming in for $5.8 billion. To blend the best of Oracle’s purchases along with Oracle products, in Project Fusion(supposedly a one-stop-shop for corporates), is what John’s job is, to put all this together, and make sure it works, since top boss Larry Ellison has been known to fire incompetent executive in past!! You can read full article at BusinessWeek Online.

On another note, I noticed that BusinessWeek might’ve goofed up with the online edition, as the date on the article says “JANUARY 23, 2006″.

Holy shimoly, its not 23rd yet, if not all my calendars, including the one on my PC, my mobile, my desk, are lying through their dates!! So did the guys at BusinessWeek goofed up?? Or is it the article of next week’s edition that leaked out early?? Nothing to complain though, on such a trivial matter!!
