Play Foreign Region DVDs with VLC!!

I’m sure that you have been told about the benefits of VLC Media Player, a very versatile player that plays almost all codecs (except RM), but I bet that you didn’t know it could play DVDs from foreign regions.

Yes, in fact it all happens so smoothly that I have been overlooking it for months. I have been comfortably playing DVDs from regions 1,2 and 5 without any hiccups. When one day, I tried running one of them without VLC Media Player installed on my computer it asked for changing my DVD drive’s region, which I had not encountered for a while, so I switched back to VLC and everything worked perfectly.

So, moral of the story, no need to search for software (mostly crap-ware) to play these DVDs when you can get the job done with some awesome freeware!

hmm, well, with the optical drives that we have, the media for US plays quite well in them, but I’m not sure about european media.
